What’s In my Makeup Bag?
Fun fact, I have always struggled with finding a lip colour that I love. As an on air host, I need a colour that pops, but I have always felt I am too tanned for reds, and too light for browns, and a nude just doesn’t work on camera. On top of that, as soon as I found a colour I liked, it would rub off before the first commercial break. First world problems I know, but it has really been a dilemma for me. But alas, Mary Kay to the rescue.
I was beyond excited to hear that Mary Kay had launched a new gel semi shine lipstick. 12 different colours to choose from, there was bound to be one that would fit me. To my surprise, I have fallen head over heels in love with all of them. They all have a different feel, a different mood, a different attitude. So I wanted to share my experience with the Mary Kay Gel Semi Shine Lipstick, as well as some of the colours that have quickly become my favourite.

What I love
- the different shades: as I said there is literally a shade for every mood you are in. Red for that empowering meeting, pink for a cute date night, nudes for when you want to look a little natural, and then there is something in between. There are so many options, and each of them go on so smoothly.
- You get what you want: A lot of lipsticks that I have tried in the past never actually look the same on me as they do in the box. The great thing about these lipsticks is that the shades are highly pigmented and they stay true to color.
- They stay on: As I mentioned earlier, I have never really found a lipstick that wants to stay put, until now. You want a lipstick that will last you longer than your dancing shoes? This is the brand for you
- They don’t dry your lips: I was actually surprised at how comfortable this lipstick felt once I put it on. I actually forgot that I was wearing it.
So what do we know so far; these lipsticks offer a variety of colours to suite anyone and everyone, the lipstick will last you all night, and it doesn’t dry out your lips. Sounds too good to be true right?
I know that I am sold at this point, and if you are too, well now is the fun part, deciding what colour is your colour. Here is the thing, everyone has their own look, their own vibe, their own style, and so what I like isn’t right for everyone. Having said that I wanted to share a few of my favourite shades that I wear on camera and why I love them so much.

My Favourites
Haute Pink: This is my daring shade. The shade when I want to make a statement. I love it because it isn’t quite as powerful as red, but it is fun and fierce and I can’t get enough of it.
Rosewood: I am a huge fan of nude colours, but they never come off on camera. That is why I love Rosewood. Close enough to nude but with a hit of rose that it stands out.
Love me Pink: This one could be my favorite. It goes on so smooth, it is fun, but at the same time professional. It looks great and really matches my skin tone.
Sunset Peach: Ok I lied earlier, this is my favourite. I have always been a big fan of peach tones and this one is the absolute best shade of peach I have ever found
Berry Couture: I was surprised when I fell head over heels with this colour because I am not usually a fan of darker tones, but this one is the perfect mixture of red and brown that it really works.
Spiced Ginger: This shade is so unique and that made me fall in love with it. At first look it may seem a little too brown, but it really has an incredible ginger tint to it once it is on your lips.

These lipsticks are available now, perfect for the holiday parties, the Christmas get togethers, and even for stocking stuffers for the makeup lover on your list. They are all $21 dollars and you can find them all at…
Have you tried the Mary Kay Gel Semi Shine Lipsticks? If so what is your favourite color?
Hugs and plenty of colourful kisses,
