About

Hey everyone, my name is Mia Gordon and I am a host, reporter, and videographer for the Weather Network in British Columbia. I also love creating lifestyle and travel content.

Previous to my career with TWN, I had the chance to work as a reporter, host, and producer for Sportsnet, and the National Lacrosse League. I  also do freelance hosting, reporting, and writing  for various television, radio, and media outlets such as TSN, Eligible Magazine, and Sun News. I like to consider myself the jill of all trades in the sense that I shoot, edit, write, and create all my own content. I am currently available for freelance hosting and reporting work, and have a variety of experience working in different areas.

My Story

My love for sports  started at 7, when I picked up my first tennis racket. I become one of the top ranked juniors in Canada before moving down to Florida at 14 to train at the Chris Evert Tennis Academy. I traveled the world playing international and WTA tournaments. After an injury set back, I took a full NCAA scholarship to a Division 1 school. It was there that I decided I wanted to combine my love of sports with my love for writing and majored in broadcasting. Upon graduating, I received a job as a reporter and videographer at the NBC and CBS affiliate in Corpus Christi, Texas.

After years of the perfect tan and living on the beach, I decided it was time to move back home to Canada and took a position as a reporter and host with CHCH news and Leafs TV. Being able to be at morning skate for the team I grew up watching was a dream come true. Plus I knew blue was always my colour.

Since returning to Canada, I have had been so fortunate to work with so many amazing organizations. From being one of the youngest national news anchors and reporters with the Sun News Network team, to features on TSN’s SportsCentre. I had the chance to be part of the inaugural TSN 1150 roster as one of their hosts and content creators, and I had a dream come true when I covered the Olympics for CBC.

I recently took the plunged and moved out west to Vancouver where I have been able to experience brand new opportunities. I continue my work with the National Lacrosse League but I have also taken on new challenges with Sportsnet and the Saskatchewan Rush. I love creating unique content and stories while seeing the sport of lacrosse grow.

But what about when the cameras aren’t rolling?

While that is my professional story in a nutshell, I have plenty of other passions and hobbies and I wanted this site to be an opportunity to share  a side of me that a lot of people may not know. As a former professional tennis player, I had the chance to travel the world, but all I really got to see was hotel rooms and tennis courts. When I quit professional tennis, I promised I would never quit traveling. Now I explore the beauty each country has to offer to the fullest. Travel is my a real passion of mine and that is why I decided to start writing about it. You can learn about my favourite places, things to do, and don’t, and travel tips as I take you on each adventure with me in Mia goes M.I.A.

I am also taking the opportunity to share beauty tricks that I have learned through my years as an on air host, my favourite places to eat and drink in my city, and some of the ultimate workout spots to get your booty into shape.

I am so excited to take you on this journey with me, and I am hope that you will share your journey with me as well.
